What's Been Happenin' This New Year??

<-- So, so, have you heard?? Glam Rock Glory Days has a Youtube channel!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/GlamRockGloryDays?feature=mhsn

I can now show you all awesome tutorials, my fave people, websites, and recons, and more!! So please, go check it out! It's really fun. I'll be uploading more soon ^^

In the meantime, I've just been working on a few recons... Some for the Fashion and Recycling, and some for myself. Buuuut.. I've been altering and working on some stuff for sale also. So far, I've come up with:

Lemondade skirt -- made for the FashRecycling. It's such a cute mini and I really hate pink.. But I looooove pink lemonade!! (ba dum dum pssshh) I can make on from your graphic tee for $15.

Pinstripe chokers!! -- Remember the pinstripe skirt from Dec 2010? Well, I still had a bit of pants left over. Made for FashRecycling (ya know, pretty much after the event, we all can basically do what we want with the clothes we made) and this one's for $12. (check out the tutorial on youtube)

This one's $10. -->

And this one for $10. -->

Duck Marley shirt/minidress: one of my faves -- made for FashRecycling. I took this reaaaaaally large tee (I forgot if it was XL or XXL) and turned it into this really edgy/daring dress, or long shirt, rather... hahaha... Tees like this one will be for $25.

Tutu cuffs -- Here are some cuffs I made from a boy's button down. I cut the cuffs off and made them cooler =D These or others from button downs are $7. (check out the tutorial on youtube)

I'm working on a few other projects and will post them later. OH!! And I'm like thiiiiiiiiis (pinches air with fingers) close to getting a job with a seamstress AND an artist who both need assistants!! They're both in the fields of study that I love the most and will help me gain experience in the industries.... I'm so in love with this and great things are starting to happen for me! I'd never thought I'd see the day where I'd be getting 2 jobs at the same time. I went from nothing to 2 in under a week... Now, let's just see how next week goes, and maybe I'll be sure I have either job or both! ^^ Thanks folks, and enjoy!!

Recaps of Glam Rock Creations [December 2010]

**In November, I was busy trying to get everything taken care of as far as my car accident (the death of my '91 Jeep Cherokee I've only had for 3 weeks) I've gotten into on the 6th and searching for a new car, at the same time looking for employment, and trying to focus on school.

I did eventually get a '94 Jeep Cherokee on the 18th and have been very busy with other things. A week after getting her, I picked up 3 full bags of vintage fabric from dear old Bayou City Art Festival volunteer buddy Douglas Brookover, then 3 bags of old unwanted clothes from HCC friend Fida Moukaddam. I've been sorting everything out, what I wanted to keep and wanted to give away because I found NO use for it, and have been preparing for end of my participation in school organizations and finals. Some of my studies were a bit hard to catch up on, but I luckily got around and caught up.

I looked at Adalia after getting all those bags and felt so sorry for her because I wasn't using her since my Alice in Wonderland costume... November was wayyyy too hectic for me, but I got rid of the biggest worry in December (court for the accident because I had to appear for an "unsafe turn", even though I didn't see the person, had the right of way, and got hit) So I started on my Creative Binges and put all the old clothes and fabric to good use.

Even though I won't be participating too much in student organizations anymore, I valued half my winter break and my time for an event coming up on Valentine's Day <--(eww) called "Fashion and Recycling". It was an idea I pointed out for the Student Government's Environmental Committee and the chairwoman, the beeeee-yoooo-tiful Medina Baitemirova, agreed to it. She set the date, venue, and made flyers, and I took the student donations for old and unwanted clothes. During the break, these are what my Creative Binges are for, because I would look for inspiration and search for many ideas on teh intarwebz! So... let's get started with December recaps. (btw, they're not so much "recaps" because I never put these creations on the blog, but I guess we'll just keep on going with that..)**

December 5

My very first project with Fida's old clothes. I took a long black skirt, and 2 red shirts (one contour bust, one with lace).

It came out to be this little dress. (yeah, I'm not lying when I say "little"; it's tiny: shape-wise, and length.)

I then grabbed some fabric paint and scrambled arrows all over, to make it more vivid, crazy, and noticeable. Ahh, thanks Binary Grunge.. ^-^

And here's a matching choker!!

December 11

Fida had about 3 pairs of jeans that I found.. I only used one, and took out my Simplicity pattern..

The end result: This badass jean vest!! I'm looking to put more on it later, but for now.. This is as cool as it can be. I can sell this or make one from your old pair of jeans for $15.

For now, it's decked out in a tiny black ribbon bow and a black chain =D

I even like how there's deeper blue where the pockets used to be and it makes the vest more uninhibited ^^ There's already fraying at the bottom and the armholes, so the different blue patches and the one upside-down pocket makes it look like it came from a pair of jeans. Mi plan!!

There's my little helper that I won in August btw: Feliz. Why?? Because piggies make me sooo happy (for those who didn't know that).

December 22

I had only less than a week, and only about 40 bucks to spare for gas.. I went to Walmart earlier in the week to look for what to buy for my grandma, mom, and the demons.. I've already bought the elders something, but I remember my mom telling me that the girls would like anything I make, especially for them. These 3 shirts had been hanging on the old couch in my room for the longest and I had every intention to make them pillows, but never got around to it. So here it is, Christmastime, and I now had an idea of what to do.

I took their old shirts that they've given me months ago and made pillows, with the help of Douglas also giving me 2 bags of cotton stuffing with all the old fabric.

Hola, Feliz.... he only speaks Spanish)

This pillow was for my ex's niece Marlene who's like another little cousin or sister to me (like my demons... and she is Sanai's age)

December 27-28

This was another costume I made for a cosplay meet that I was misinformed and missed out on. I made a steampunk (and sort of burlesque) dress with Fida's old workout shirt. The bottom part of the dress was made from scratch and with 6 layers: 2 layers of black fabric, a folded layer of black tulle, a layer of sheer white, a layer of white pillowcase, and a folded white tulle.

Let's not forget the extra 2 layers of ruffles on the back, so altogether, that's a big poofy dress! But not in the "Mommy, I don't wanna wear this" kind of way.

December 29

This is one of the creative binge days I've done back to back projects taking me practically all day. This was a strange day because I woke up reeeeeally early and couldn't go back to sleep. Many ideas were flowing in my head and I had to get up and sew. I went in the Jeep (her name's Emerald ^^) and took some of the clothes from the donation box for Fashion and Recycling.

So here are some old pinstripe pants from Ericka Burns, who have donated some of her clothes for the Fashion and Recycling. I had alot leftover to make some matching accessories. I made them way later.

But, the end result: a pinstripe miniskirt with opposing panels and 3 layers of ruffles on the back.

Here are the ruffles up close -->

This was a sundress that belonged to Fida and I chopped off the frilly parts and made a pinafore for my friend Grace Allen. She's been wanting one forever ago and I just haven't gotten around to making one until after the holidays.

Remember my Musical Notes pinafore?? Well, she saw it, fell in love with it, and wanted one of any color I had. She sure as hell wasn't picky, so I wanted to make one really unique. The straps and the adjuster in the back are purple organdy ribbon.

Final project of the day was a high-waisted jersey skirt made of polypoplin fabric and strips of purple fabric with purple buttons and a purple organdy button bow on the back beneath the slit. Didn't take too long to make, AND I made my own pattern for the next time I would want to make another!!

Looking really spiffy, and I wore this to a New Year's party ^^ (just not with that pajama shirt...)

Thanks 2010 for a good start in Glam Rock Glory Days!

Recaps of Glam Rock Creations [October 2010]

October 10-16

The Introduction of:

Glam Rock's side baby... Binary Grunge is the stencilling and fabric painting of different phrases and pictures onto old, boring, and plain shirts, pants, shoes, backpacks, etc.!!!

(This binary code shirt I made is where the idea of the name popped into my head ^^)

"All your base are belong to us"

These shoes are what I raved for in August and what I got for my birthday ^^ So Glam Rock & Binary took care of them.

Linda was Maid-sama for Oni-con on Halloween (which I wanted to go at first, buuuut heard it was at that same sucky place it was last year..)

This actually was my most challenging!!

October 23-28

I was Alice for Halloween!!!! (and it also seemed like 2010 was year of the Wonderland... =_=)

I already had this planned months in advance because of my newly blonde hair, and come October, every chick wanted to be Alice..... But bet I was the most creative looking one, ne??

I loved it!! Strangely, I even had a black and red hearts ball on my medusa!! Off with my head maybe, but never with my piercings!

But yes, it literally took me 3-5 sleepless nights to do because I started on it so late, very busy with school, and that was kinda the only free time I had. The corset almost made me call it quits (because it was the really fancy-looking, Simplicity pattern one, and I didn't have enough boning. But what do I do best? Improvise.) Yes, I wore it to school the Thursday before Halloween, and that week I only had 8 hours of sleep in total... v.v Very worth it, though.

I liked my low-cut back.. it was totally on accident.

<-- P.S.: This is my current fiance, Christian Cooper. He was my March Hare, and Halloween (my fave holiday) is his birthday! He doesn't like his fam taking piccies of him, but it's okay, he has plenty with me on my facebook.

Recaps of Glam Rock Creations [September 2010]

September 24

(I was reeeeeeeally busy this month, being back in school and all.. so, not so many creations..)

Remember these bad boys I altered from regular old jeans?? Well, I slashed them up!!! No use buying any over-priced cut-up jeans when you can DIYODS (do it your own damn self!)

Buuuut... if you're afraid to mess up your jeans, then it's cool. I can alter them and cut them (cause I'm one scissor-happy fool XD) altogether for $15.

(Yes, the back too)

This Pretty-in-Purple dress was made from a button down shirt and extra black fabric, pink, purple, and black houndstooth, and purple fabric. It's ruched contoured bust, and kinda off-shoulder, and with a purty little purple bow =]

This dress, or any custom dress like this is $30.

Enjoy!
