Bayou City Art Festival ^-^

Hey hey everyone! This weekend was the Bayou City Art Festival at Memorial Park, and with the beautiful people and weather, I had an ultimate blast!

I volunteered for Friday and Saturday at the Artist Hospitality tent. I finally made business cards and handed them out. I networked up a storm!! The key and primary source of networking is advertising, and I wear my handmade products as advertisement. The most compliments I've gotten from my "advertisements" was my one and only limited Rainbow Stripey tie! My model and dear boyfriend Jose Alonso modeled it also and gotten so many heads to turn, so I tried it at the festival, and look what happened!! I've gotten more connections now than anything!

Jose was working on business card templates for our school organization [Student Government Association]. Of course, the idea of business cards was already in my head, but I never got around to look for a really cool template. He then showed me how to make one from scratch, and there you have it! I went home and tried it out, and I owe my business cards all out to him ♥ With the computer skills I have, how could I have NOT thought about how to do that?? Like I said, I owe it all to him.

Well, I pranced around in my Rainbow tie and altered my shirt after I came home on Friday. Only took 5 minutes tops. So Saturday morning, I printed out my cards and went on my merry little way to the Fest and networked like there was no tomorrow!! So everyone should be checking out this page right now, but the thing is, I need to start posting my alterations and recons. Right now, I only have my bows and ties listed. So now I shall start a post really soon containing my other products.

As a matter of fact, let me show you all a sneak peek of what else I have to offer.

Rock Musical Pinafore

Red Musical Burlesque Circle Skirt

RECYCLE Burlap Bag Hoodie

Halter made from t-shirt

Free Hugs alteration from XL (see blogspot picture) ^.^

Regular jeans to skinny jeans alterations

Skirts made from pants

Btw: I really need to take before and after pictures. In fact, I need to take better pictures.. Sorry folks.

Yes yes, I will post the other creations soon. =D But like I said, I had a great time at the Art Fest and can't wait til the Downtown one again in October. Much like last October, this Art Fest was a successful blowout! We owe it all to the fellow artists.

Ties!!!

So here are the ties I have currently for sale. They are all $15 a pop. I didn't really have many in stock, and the ones I've had have been sold and the money went to donation =D (Yes, I share my wealth, haha). The ties' fabric matches those of my bows (but I only had enough for these, so it's not all the bows).

Rainbow Stars tie -- Yes, it's the tie you see in the blog title picture. <--The only kind I have in stock as of right now T.T Sorry..

Checkered tie -- (yeah, please excuse me for wearing it on my head, but hey, it was the Super Bowl, so I had some fun and also thought about Will Smith's quote from the Fresh Prince: "Yes, the handbook does clearly state the the tie should be worn with a Windsor knot.... but it doesn't say wheeeeeeeere!!")

White Musical Notes tie -- the shorts were cut by me too, btw.

I did make a Red Musical Notes tie, but soooooo sorry that I didn't take a pic of it.. -.-' I'm kinda sad now....
(updated: Now I have pictures of the tie. Remember, $15)

But no worries people, I promise promise promise to buy more (and/or preferably the same) fabric to make more ties, especially the ones listed. Hey, I'm here to make you all smile with my creations, just like this goofy, lovely lady down here ^-^

Free hugs, y'all. ♥

New Logo!!

Well, not really for the blog, but it can be...

Okay, anyhoooo.. I made a patch for my new briefcase bag today, which took me like 2 1/2 hours to sew altogether.

It's made with letters from this shirt and checkered fabric. So now, I can advertise my bizz wherever I go, especially at school.

I also made this patch just so I can cover a 88.7 FM KUHF radio logo on the bag (I got it from the Menil Community Arts Festival this past Saturday) since I played "Spin the Wheel and Get a Free Prize" when I first got there. I also want to use this new bag for school, but make it more of an awesome and trippy bag rather than the drab radio logo (no offense, though, I luff classical music..) and just stick pins on it, much like my old backpack. So the first thought in my mind was to cover the radio logo with some of my fabric and just write a lot of crap on it, but I wanted more... I wanted to think outside the bow, er box.. (My new friend Andy whom I met at the Menil got the exact same bag, and he bought a small white musical bow and later super-glued it to his bag)

Okay, so today, I was rummaging through some scraps of old clothes in my closet to see if I can make something new, or at least a new tie or bow. I come across one of my weirdest shirts that I couldn't wear anymore (It was a hand-me-down from my mom and the nail polish you see is way after I got it from her), and I used to call it the "word search" shirt because when I wore it, other people or I would spend so much time trying to find different words on it... It had girly type words like 'glamorous', 'love', 'princess', 'material', 'rock', 'wild', 'freaky', and the only words that were in red were 'BAD GIRL'. So I just began cutting (mainly why I like to sew... if there's nothing to cut, I go crazy.... so don't hand me any sharp objects if you know what's good for you), and when I saw 'glamorous' and 'rock' kinda in the same row, I cut the glam and rock out. Then I just searched for more letters that looked like they were in a series of spelling 'glory' or 'days' but not quite. Instead, I just cut out random letters. After the letters (it was very hard to find a 2nd Y), I cut some checkered fabric to cover completely over the radio logo because the letters alone wouldn't cover everything. Pinned, sewed, and there ya have it!! Another grand idea out of pure boredom and randomness!

That's how most of my best ideas come about. =D

Bows!!!

Here are the types of bows I have currently available for sale. Bows are $2-10, depending on size and quality of fabric.. (meaning, this fabric ain't cheap, so I'm getting my money's worth).

Purple Psych Flowers bow:
small- $5
large- $8

These are my favorite because they're purple and black, which are my fave colors! But buy these for a more trippy, psychedelic, yet elegant look.

Red and Beige Plaid Star bow:
small- $2
large- $6

I love plaid, and some people say it clashes or it's dead, but I'm bringing it back of course ^^ Hey, it's Rodeo time anyways, so buy this and show it off while looking westernly cool.

Blue Jean bow:
small- $4
large- $8

Bows include different types of jeans and styles.
A creative look for the creative person in you, and the lover of jeans.

Rainbow Stars bow: small- $2
large- $5

A recommended favorite and buy right here. You can be dark and have you taste of the rainbow at the same time, or show your lovely pride with the colorful rainbow stars in the night sky.

White Musical Notes bow: small- $4
large- $9

A recommended favorite and buy (my top seller). For the love of music, you want to show that you're loud and proud (and disorganized) with this bow.

Musical Notes bow: small- $5 large- $9

A more elegant and organized way to express your love for music. The red is so fancy and cute. It's Lolita-esque.

Checkered bow: small- $3
large- $7

King me! On your marks, get set, go! Whatever you want to say, this bow is the perfect and cute time for it. Goes with any (or most) outfits, and that's what I love about it.

Black Zipper bow: $3

This bow doesn't come in large sizes, but it's a really cute yet edgy look for whenever, especially when showing off your creative side.

Of course, there are more designs coming up sooooon!! Look out for them.

Interests and Goals

My interests to everyone is to provide quality creativity throughout my clothes and accessories. I make and provide bows, ties, gloves, armwarmers/legwarmers, skirts, dresses, shirts, and coming soon hoodies, jackets, and cosplay costumes.

The name "Glam Rock Glory Days"® is made-up by me so don't sue me or I won't sue anyone else -.-' I guess you can say I'm trying to bring the 80's back although I was born in 90. 80's and other past fashions interest and inspire me but original modern fashion is also great and what I try to do now.

I like vintage, and I would love to bring it back. I'm not a fashion major but would love to learn more about it and make a business out of it. People say I'm multi-talented, but I just want to try new things and chase after something that relaxes me and makes tons of money in the future.

So my goals for Glam Rock Glory Days are to provide some quality and original work to all my customers, to be able to bring back some vintage fashion with a little bit of my own, and to make this side-project a fun and profitable business.

(I'm looking for a job also, and need some money for materials hahaha.. sorry, I'll come up with it soon, no worries ^^)

So, go ahead and peruse throughout this blog if you want. Like anything you see?
